The effects of a group counseling program that uses the NLPs approach along with art therapy on the self-esteem and self-efficacy of Korean adolescents

The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of a group counseling program that uses the NLPs approach along with art therapy on the self-esteem and self-efficacy of Korean adolescents. The participants of this study were 31 Korean students from fifth grade to junior high. The program was administered from January 14th to January 16th, 2011. The surveys on self-esteem and self-efficacy were conducted before and after the program and then analyzed. Following are the results of the study: First, there is a significant difference on self-esteem and self-efficacy on the overall participants after they took the program. Secondly, there is no significant difference in self-esteem and self-efficacy of the elementary students, however there is a significant difference in self-esteem and self-efficacy on the middle and high-school students after they took the program. Thirdly, there is a significant effect on self-esteem of other male and female participants after they took the program. Fourth, there is a significant effect on self-efficacy of male students only but not female students after they took the program. Finally, among the items of self of overall participants, general self-esteem and school self-esteem in the self-esteem category and self control self-efficacy and work level of difficulty in self-efficacy have significant difference after they took the program.
